Meyerton flower farmer celebrates Garden Day in style

The annual Garden Day is a celebration of big or small green spaces by people from all corners of South Africa.

MEYERTON. – This year marked the seventh year of this beautiful celebration. One such person who commemorated the day is Nzwisisai “Nzwi” Dyirakumunda, the owner of Akanaka Blooms in Meyerton.

On Sunday 09 October,  Dyirakumunda joined thousands of people across the country celebrating their green spaces with neighbours, family and friends for the annual Garden Day.

Dyirakumunda says, “I celebrated by popping on a flower crown and toasting the goodness our gardens give us all year long.”

Garden Day was conceptualized by a group of enthusiastic gardeners whose objective is to encourage people across South Africa to connect by celebrating their green spaces regardless of the size.

The next Garden Day will take place on Sunday 15 October 2023.
