Mbali Hlophe blesses differently abled people with Christmas gifts

Gauteng MEC of Social Development, Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Mbali Hlophe spent a day with differently abled people in Evaton on Thursday, December 15.

EVATON – Her visit formed part of her program to change the lives of those who are disabled, those coming from child headed homes, and the youth during these tough times.

Hlophe was flanked by MMC of Finance in the Sedibeng District Municipality (SDM), Tumi Mochawe and the Ward Councillor of Evaton, Morena Molefe. The entourage blessed the gathered crowds at Thusanang Centre in Mafatsane with dignitary packs. Addressing the gathered crowds, Hlophe explained the importance of her visit and said that Christmas is not the only time to come to her people, and that however her office is merely doing its duty by visiting different types of people.

“As this is Christmas time, as the department we are spending time with the most important people in our government. These will be the elderly, and the differently abled. Yesterday we were with old people, and today we are with the disabled people in our communities,” she said.

“As government, we felt it was important to make sure that these individuals know that they are important and that their needs are close to our hearts,” she added.

Hlophe further said that as government, they know the issues that the handicapped are facing in life.

“There is a lot they are missing on, and we wanted to assure them that there is a lot we can help them on,” she said.

Hlophe said that on their program, not only the differently abled and the elderly are given focus, and that child headed families are also part of their priority.

“Child headed families and youth are also our special focus. We will also visit them and address issues they are facing. Our duty is not only to visit them as we are nearing Christmas but daily,” she concluded.
