SEBOKENG – Dozens of officers barricaded the road as they conducted vehicle control points, stop and searches led by the Acting Sedibeng District Commissioner Brigadier Nkhwashu.
Following the operation, about 198 suspects were arrested for various offences including drunk driving, assault GBH, sexual offences, possession of drugs, illegal immigrants and unlicensed shebeens.
Nkwashu was flanked by Public Safety MMC in Sedibeng District Municipality Busang Tsotetsi.

The operation included the police, Gauteng Traffic, Department of Home Affairs as they continued to protect, combat and serve the community.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Brigadier Nkhwashu said the operation is targeted on law breakers.
“We are holding the road block as per operation Okae Molao. Our intention is to track drunk drivers, drivers transporting all illegal goods, including weapons, drugs and so on,” he said.
Nkhwashu said more and more police and other law enforcers will continue to be on the ground and make Sedibeng safer.

“We will make sure that police visibility is fashionable so that our area becomes safe. We will deploy more boots on the ground so that there are fewer drunk drivers on our roads and no other criminal activities are conducted under our watch,” he added.
Nkhwashu applauded his officers for a job well done.
Public Safety MMC in Sedibeng District Municipality Busang Tsotetsi said “we are here to show support and show the importance of safety for our citizens. This is the busiest time were criminals move all illegal goods on our roads.”
“We are doing this for the interests of our people to make sure we prevent all possible criminal activities,” said Tsotetsi.
Arrested suspects during the operation will appear in different courts within Sedibeng such as Sebokeng, Vanderbijlpark and Vereeniging court on Monday.
