NATIONAL – This is after a protest alert by the DA started making rounds, that the party plans to close down the ANC home in Johannesburg on Wednesday.
Gauteng’s MKMVA Provincial Chairperson Bronson Thinane said they will do whatever it takes to protect Luthuli house.
“We have authorized our MK members and platoons to defend our revolutionary house. It is unfair for a political party to march to another political party’s home. If the DA wants to march or protest against anyone, they should march to Union Buildings where the government seats.” he said.
Thinane said the MKMVA is not going to fight anyone, but protect their members and political home.
“Ours is to protect our staffers and building. We will not fight the DA or anyone, but no one is allowed to threaten our staff. Our platoons will be at the ANC headquarters from as early as 7 o’clock,” he added.
The DA said it would march to the African National congress headquarters at Luthuli House to demonstrate against rolling power cuts and the latest electricity tariffs increase.
This is after National Energy Regulator of SA (NERSA) recently approving Eskom’s application for tariff increase by 18.65% for 2023/2024 financial year.
DA leader John Steenhuisen said Luthuli is where ANC takes decision to deploy corrupt cadres.
“the DA protest will specifically target Luthuli house, because this is the scene of crime that the ANC continues to penetrate the people of SA. There is only one organization that is responsible for the misery and hardship that the electricity crisis is causing all South Africans and it’s time to hold this criminal organization accountable,” he said.
