SEDIBENG.- NWU Vaal and Vaal Elite Academy will join RESA to play in Gauteng Development League in the new season which is set to kick-off in March.
However, these two teams will campaign in Stream B and if they get promoted at the end of the season, they will join the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, SuperSport United, and School Of Excellence in Stream A.
These two teams attended the meeting at SAFA House last week Thursday in preparation for the new season. The meeting was attended by PSL club’s heads of academies such as Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs, TS Galaxy, and SuperSport United to mention but a few.
NWU Vaal has formed a partnership with local development teams to assemble a strong team that will compete and gain promotion at the end of the season. This was confirmed by NWU Vaal Football Manager Thomas Thema. Thema said they have formed a partnership with the community development clubs to give youngsters an opportunity to compete against the best academies/development in Gauteng.
“We have formed a relationship with community development teams to assemble the strongest teams that are going to compete in the league. We are going to play with four divisions and the aim is to gain promotion to Stream A at the end of the season. I have no doubt that we are going to achieve this because I have been watching these youngsters as they play preparation games. We will be ready when the league kicks off and the only thing that I ask from parents is to ensure that these players apply for passports and IDs,” he said.
