Metsimaholo Mayor conduct an oversight visit at a wastewater treatment plant

Metsimaholo Local Municipality Executive Mayor Jeff Zwane conducted an oversight visit at the Orangeville wastewater treatment plant on Wednesday, March 01.

ORANGEVILLE – His visit was to ensure that the residents of his municipality relying on the plant for water, are getting the services.

The plant is being upgraded and the upgrade construction started on the 7th July 2021.

According to the Mayor, load shedding has been affecting the functioning of the plant.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Zwane said conducting oversights is vital in making sure that services are not disrupted.

“Conducting oversights at critical points is vital in ensuring services reach our people. So on that note, I am closely monitoring the progress on plants and will be happy once the upgrade is 100% complete and function at full capacity,” he said.

“Our aim with this wastewater treatment is to remove as much of the suspended solids as possible before the remaining effluent water, is discharged back to the environment”.

Zwane added that “I am happy with the progress of the plant and I am confident that it will be finished on the expected time frame”.

The plant upgrade is expected to be completed at the end of June 2023.
