Attempted murder suspect arrested after fleeing to Vereeniging

Police from Ekurhuleni District working together with local security companies arrested a 36-year-old attempted murder suspect in Vereeniging.

VEREENIGING. – A 36-year-old male suspect was arrested by police from Ekurhuleni District in  Vereeniging on Friday, 17 March.

The South African Police Services (SAPS) reports that police recovered an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and a knife after they operationalized intelligence received about the whereabouts of the suspect.

“A preliminary report suggests a team comprising of members from Ekurhuleni District Trio Operational Task Team and SAPS Brakpan together with local security guards operationalised information on the location of a suspect linked to an attempted murder case investigated by SAPS Brakpan.

“Further investigation led the team to an address in Vereeniging, but the suspect had already fled however, shortly after, he was apprehended.”

Police say further investigations  are underway pertaining the matter.
