SEDIBENG– Firearms, drugs, illicit cigarettes, dagga, liquor, and dangerous weapons were among some of the exhibits seized by police recently when they conducted various operations across the Sedibeng District in concerted efforts to clamp down on crime.

This was executed through the popular Operation Okae Molao, roadblocks, stop and searches, and school tours together with various stakeholders.

Police spokesperson captain Fike Funda reports that at times, teams operationalized information and worked throughout the night to get positive results.
“From Thursday 23 March until Friday 30 March, Sedibeng District police have been engaged in crime reduction operations partnered with various role players.

“It has been a very draining week as some of the members had to work tirelessly for the whole night. Exhibits seized by Sedibeng members include firearms, drugs, dagga, liquor, dangerous weapons, and illicit cigarettes,” he added.
The acting District Commander Brigadier Mbangwa Nkhwashu commended all stakeholders on a job well done and stated that some of the firearms would have been used in committing crimes like hijackings, rape, house and business robberies, and cash in transit robberies.

“I am very proud to work with men and women in blue who commit their time to ensure that crime is reduced in Sedibeng.”
All arrested suspects have since appeared in different Magistrates’ Courts.
