SHARPEVILLE.- No one can question Johnny Makgalemele’s love and passion for sport despite his physical condition.
Makgalemele is a living testimony that despite one’s physical disability you can still do anything that any normal person can do. His love for the development of tennis is amazing as he teaches young people the sport. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Makgalemele said his wish is to see tennis being revived where it used to be played at corner Joubert and Smuts Streets in Vereeniging before 1994.
To make it worse, Makgalemele said it was the last time tennis recently took place at Quest Conference Centre in Vanderbijlpark and this will leave Sedibeng District without decent tennis courts.

“Quest was one of the best tennis courts that Sedibeng tennis people used for their events.”
Makgalemele said they were told that this facility is going to be demolished, however, Sedibeng Ster Sport will establish how true this is taking into consideration that this is the best sporting facility to have in Vanderbijlpark.
“It is sad because we were told that this was the last time tennis took place at Quest and these were the best facilities for tennis. I wish Good Samaritans could come on board to rebuild the Vereeniging tennis courts where we used to play before 1994.
“We are also desperate for tennis equipment because we are running into a shortage of them, especially in our development program that takes place during the week at Sharpeville Tennis Courts. We have a tennis development program during the week but our biggest challenge is the shortage of equipment,” said Makgalemele.
When asked what drives him, he told Sedibeng Ster Sport that he is driven by passion and love for the development of sports.
