Man found dead in the streets of Vereeniging

The body was found outside a local primary school.

VEREENIGING. – The community of Vereeniging woke up to the horror of finding a dead body of a man in one of their streets on Tuesday morning.

The body was found outside a local primary school, and it is suspected that the victim, a homeless person by the looks of his appearance, was either strangled or beaten to death. The deceased was found by community members who promptly called the police and emergency services, he was certified dead on the scene.

Vereeniging Police Spokesperson, Captain Fikile Funda said:

“On Tuesday at about 07:00 police received a complaint of an inquest in Senator Marks. On arrival, there was an unknown African male lying on the ground surrounded by a group of people.  The deceased was certified dead by EMS and taken to the Sebokeng morgue. The course of death is the subject of investigation.”

The police have opened an inquest docket.
