SEDIBENG – Popular actress, radio, and TV presenter, Maritjie Bothma (39) passed away on Monday, May 30, after a short illness.
Marietjie is best known as the white Afrikaans woman who speaks fluent Zulu in a King Pie TV advert.
Marietjie has also appeared in several other adverts, TV shows and most recently, was the emcee at President Zuma’s inauguration in the Vaal over the years.
At the time, she was one of the programme directors at the event held to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the South African Constitution, where President Jacob Zuma addressed residents.
Marietjie, who has also done promos for SABC 1’s uzobheka mini ngedwa campaign and SABC 2’s Muvhango, is one of the ambassadors of the 16 Days of No Violence Against Women and Children Campaign and was also actively supporting civil society group, Life Line.
