Axed ANC Secretary General Ace Magashule visits Rivers

Former ANC SG Ace Magashule visited Rivers of Living Waters Ministries in Evaton and delivered a keynote address during the Education Sunday Programme.

EVATON – Former Secretary General of the African National Congress (ANC) Ace Magashule visited Rivers of Living Waters Ministries in Evaton, Sunday, June 25.

Magashule formed part of thousands of congregants who fellowshipped together in a bid to send off the youth month in style.

Dressed in their graduation regalia, dozens flexed their different gowns and belts at the church’s auditorium during the Education Sunday Programme.

Magashule faces accusations of misconduct and other breaches of party rules, while also facing charges of corruption in a criminal case.

In 2021, Magashule was suspended from his position as secretary-general of the ANC after being charged with multiple counts of corruption, money laundering, and fraud.

Delivering the keynote address, Magashule emphasized the significance of education to the community.

“I was very happy to see the youth singing the old songs, the songs of Mbongeni Ngema and Sarafina, Freedom is tomorrow. These are the people who should get respect. People like Mzwakhe Mbuli, and Mbongeni Ngema deserve our utmost respect.

During those years of struggle, when they sang freedom is coming tomorrow, we never knew that it will indeed come. We also didn’t know that when we were struggling, that one day we will be premieres,” he said.

Magashule said “Knowing people like Archbishop Zondo is very important. I wish I could buy all the youth the book “I write what I Like” because when I am in trouble that’s a book I read. If the likes of Steve Biko were not here to say ‘Black men, stand up and be proud’, we wouldn’t be where we are. Those were our inspirators, they made us love education. Education is very important,” he added.
