Chiefs’ Chairman wanted Zwane to continue as the Head Coach

Zwane was backed by some of the former Amakhosi players to continue as the Head Coach but this was not enough to convince the club’s management.

SEDIBENG.- There is a mixed reaction following Kaizer Chiefs’ surprise appointment of Molefi Ntsike to replace Arthur Zwane as the club’s Head Coach.

This is despite Zwane finishing the season in fourth position in his first season as the club’s coach. As if this is not enough, Zwane took the club to the CAF Cup after Given Hunt resigned as the Head Coach.

Sedibeng Ster Sport, has learned that Kaizer Chiefs Chairman, Kaizer Motaung wanted Zwane to continue as Head Coach but he was beaten by votes. Zwane promoted a few youngsters from Chiefs development to the first team. A source close to the club said this is what Kaizer Motatung wanted for a long time to see many players from the club’s development promoted to the senior team. Zwane has achieved this in one season with a senior team dominated by those players promoted from the club’s MDC team.

The appointment of Ntseki surprised many who predicted the club intended to hire a coach from outside the country, however, it was not to be.

“The truth is that the Chairman was of the opinion that the Coach has done exceptionally well under circumstances, finishing fourth position. He was happy to see many young players from development promoted to the senior teams which is something he wanted for a long time now,” said the source.
