Three injured after bakkie and truck collide on the R42

The driver of the bakkie, a 33-year-old man suffered serious to critical injuries while two other men sustained minor to moderate injuries.

VEREENIGING. -Three people were injured in a collision between a light delivery truck and a bakkie on the R42 between Vereeniging and Heidelberg.

The driver of the bakkie, a 33-year-old man suffered serious to critical injuries while two other men sustained minor to moderate injuries. The incident happened on Thursday, 20 July.  ER24 says its paramedics were on the scene at around 12h00 along with Midvaal Fire and Traffic Departments.

“A small bakkie was found on its roof with its front bonnet under a delivery truck carrying a load of sand. The driver (33) was found entrapped in the bakkie and Midvaal Fire & Rescue had to extract the man from the wreck.

“The patient was found to have suffered several fractures and was treated using Advanced Life Support interventions before being transported to Mediclinic Vereeniging for further care.”

Two men from the delivery truck suffered minor to moderate injuries. They were treated and transported to Kopanong Hospital for further care.
