SEDIBENG.- Retired SAPS police officers participated in the Fun Run and Walk which took place on Houtkop Road over the weekend.
Aubrey Moopeloa, who is also a retired police officer and one of the founder members of this organization for retired officers, hailed this Fun Run/Walk as a success. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Moopeloa said that this was a first-of-its-kind event to happen in this region to bring the retired police officers together.
Moopeloa further said that there is a need for such organizations to look after retired police officers. He believes the launch of this organization will be a great benefit to retired police officers especially for their well-being. He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that this organization will help them to look after each other in terms of sicknesses, funerals, or in times of mourning.
“We want to thank all the retired police officers who honoured our invitation to come to be part of this event. It was great to see them after a long time and it was a reunion of old friends and colleagues. This idea came up with one of our former colleagues in SAPS, Colonel Senong after he visited his parents in Limpopo and when he came back, he sold this idea to us and we accepted it because it was a great idea.
Look, this organization will help police officers who are still working and when they retire they will know where to go. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank everyone who put their busy schedule aside and became part of this Fun Run/Walk. It was great exercise just to walk together and reflect back on when we were still police officers. We shared many memories together and we can’t wait for the next event,” said Moopeloa.
