DR Oliphant Molefi pupil stabbed outside school

BOPHELONG – A Grade 10 learner from Dr Molefi Oliphant School of Specialisation fell victim to a traumatic attack that took place just outside the school premises on Tuesday,12 September 2022.

According to available information, the victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, was confronted and attacked by two individuals who were known to him.

The assault resulted in the learner sustaining stab wounds, causing considerable distress among students, parents, and educators alike.

Since the incident, the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) has expressed deep concern over the incident and has swiftly taken measures to address the situation.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, GDE spokesman Steve Mabona said “Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident. Accordingly, our Psycho-Social Support team was dispatched to the school to provide the necessary support.”

“We urge learners to refrain from acts of misconduct in schools, and implore parents to assist the Department in instilling learner discipline in and outside the school environment,” he said.
