Summerboyz turns musical magic into fashion

A popular duo from Bophelong has turned the world of music and fashion into a tuneful blend.

BOPHELONG – Sizwe Lethoba (25) and Jabulani Matebula (28), known to fans as the “Summerboyz,” have ventured into the world of fashion with their latest creation: the Spuura Maluda brand.

The Summerboyz, known for their chart-topping hits and energetic performances, has now added “entrepreneur” to their impressive resumes. They’ve transformed one of their beloved song titles, “Spuura Maluda,” into a brand that combines their unique musical style with fashion flair.

Spuura Maluda, which means an extremely beautiful girl who’s cool, calm, and collected is not just a clothing brand but a celebration of the duo’s music and the emotions it invokes.

In a recent interview, Sizwe Lethoba expressed their excitement about this new venture, saying, “Music has always been our passion, and it’s incredible to see how it has connected us with our fans.”

In an interview with Sedibeng Ster, Lethoba added “Now, with Spuura Maluda, we can take that connection to a whole new level by allowing our fans to not only hear our music but also wear it.”

The Spuura Maluda brand offers a range of stylish clothing items, from trendy streetwear to comfortable loungewear, all infused with the vibrant spirit of Summerboyz’s music.

Designs incorporate elements from their songs, including colorful patterns, lyrics, and iconic album artwork. It’s a unique way for fans to not only show their support but also become a part of the Summerboyz’s musical journey.

“After recording the song, we decided to create a different brand than what we have seen. The idea was born in 2019 when we designed our own t-shirt for one of our performances and people loved it, that’s how the idea of Spuura was born,” he said.

“It took us a long time to get the brand where it is now due to pushing music and events,” he added.

How the brand was pushed from a capital-less budget, the duo used their allowance to start producing in bulk.

“We sacrificed a lot for this brand, we had to use our savings to keep the brand going. People love it and the love it’s growing. Some people don’t even think the brand is local the way is so dope,” he said.
