MEYERTON. -Members of the Meyerton SAPS are committed to combating the spread of gender-based violence (GBV). Recently, the team partnered with various stakeholders to engage the Kookrus community about the issue.
The engagement took place at the Kookrus clinic, where community members were educated about different types of GBV and encouraged to report incidents to their nearest police stations.
The SAPS members also handed out leaflets containing information on GBV, general safety tips, and important contact numbers.
Police spokesperson Constable Tlaleng Moloi emphasised: “We urge the community to break the silence, take action, and speak out against Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF).
“The engagement is part of the build-up towards the 16 days of Activism for no violence against women and children,” Moloi added.
To report any GBV-related crime, the community can reach out to their nearest police station, contact #CrimeStop at 08600 10111, or provide an anonymous tip-off using the #MySAPSApp.
