16 Days of Activism launched
Awareness and the issues dealt with included rape, domestic violence, alcohol and drugs abuse.

BOPHELONG. – Different Gender Based Violence (GBV) Activism Organisations joined hands and embarked on a walk during the launch of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence in Bophelong on Friday.
The organisation’s members walked from the entrance of the township to the Bophelong Hall where many inspiring speeches, interactive dialogues, and discussions were held led by the leaders of the organisations and the community.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Sibongile Mashinini, an Administrator from Thabang Development and Welfare in Small Farm, Evaton said that the main purpose of the event was for the different organisations and stakeholders to join hands against GBV for women, men, young children, and femicide.
“Awareness and the issues dealt with included rape, domestic violence, alcohol and drugs abuse, bullying, stigma and peer pressure. The was also focus on perpetrators and victims,” Mashinini said.
The organisation members also head to the streets of Bophelong to raise awareness against gender-based violence and femicide, saying ‘NO’ to GBV leaving no one behind.
Besides NPOs and NGOs taking part, the Traffic Department, Crime Prevention Wardens, the Bophelong SAPS, and the Bophelong Clinic members also took part on that day.
