Double header at Isak Steyl Stadium

It was a great game of football to watch.

SEDIBENG.- While the focus is on the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) that is underway in Ivory Coast, there was also football mania back here at home at Isak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark on Saturday.

It was a doubleheader with Sekhukhune United and Cape Town Spurs battling it out in the DSTV Diski Challenge. This game was followed by the Safa Sedibeng Hollywood Bets Regional League match between Perfect Academy and Young Pirates FC.

However, the focus was on the Diski challenge match with both teams, Sekhukhune and Cape Town Spurs never disappointing as they produced a goal thriller. It was a great game of football to watch with Sekhukhune going to the interval leading 1-0.

It was a different ball game altogether in the second stanza with Spurs coming out like a house on fire, attacking their opponents and forcing them to make corner kicks. The second half belonged to Spurs who came out more purposely.

It was attack after attack with Spurs putting pressure on their opponents’ final third and their hard work was rewarded when they found an equaliser. At this stage, Spurs were all over their opponents and it didn’t come as a surprise when they took the lead to make it 2-1.

However, this game was too far from over when Sekhukhune equalised in the last minutes of the game to force the game to end 2-2.
