NSFAS fiasco at Sedibeng TVET
“No, there is no strike here, we are working as normal."

SEBOKENG.- Except for writing their exams, no teaching nor learning was taking place at the Sedibeng Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Sebokeng Campus this week.
Students sat at the gates of the campus, led by the Economic Freedom Fighters Students Command (EFFSC) demanding their National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) payouts amongst other things.
The students also said that they had received messages stating that their R 56 000 from a bursary was paid but when they checked their accounts there was no payment., they do not have textbooks, and the bursary department personnel never give them attention as they’re ‘always in their offices drinking coffee’.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, EFFSC’s Zwelakhe Nqosini said that they have issues with NSFAS and the service provider.
“We can assure you that the protests are peaceful but we demand answers,” he said.
The protesters said that there is a construction project taking place at the campus that they were never informed about and now both the ladies and gents are using one toilet
“Most of the management are ANC members and never take students seriously since EFF is always assisting them. The management does not listen to our complaints, some students never receive messages for the dates that their exams are taking place. We also have a situation where Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is being demanded from us yet it was never issued to us.” the students said while promising that the situation will return to normality once their grievances are answered.
Sedibeng Ster called the campus for comment and spoke to an employee (staff member) who did not give their name but said, “No, there is no strike here, we are working as normal, maybe what you guys saw is just the commotion of the SRC elections. We are working as usual.”
