Search operation activated following drowning incident

HENLEY ON KLIP. – The Meyerton police together with the SAPS Water Wing have activated a search operation at Henley Weir where a man in his forties drowned this morning around 09:30.

According to information at Sedibeng Ster’s disposal, the man together with his friend were on a fishing trip when the incident occurred.

It is said that he fell into the water after stepping on a platform in an attempt to fish deeper into the water.

Police spokesperson Constable Tlaleng Moloi confirms the incident, adding that the search operation is ongoing.
