Female officers conduct women-led roadblock

Over 100 female law enforcers joined hands in making their all-female operation a success.

SEDIBENG – Female officers of the Sedibeng police, Heidelburg traffic officers, Crime Prevention Wardens, and the Community Policing Forum held a women-led roadblock on the N3 weighbridge on November 20.

According to the Sedibeng District Police Commissioner, the roadblock was in line with commemorating International Women’s Day.

Some operations carried out on the day were stop and searches, issuing traffic fines, and tuckshop raids.

According to consolidated statistics, about 17 fines were issued at the value of R 10 400.

About 725 people and 305 vehicles were searched during the multi-disciplinary roadblock.

Six taxi ranks in the precinct, two tuckshops, and three business premises were raided.

During the raid, two illegal immigrants were detained.

Detailing the purpose of the operation, district commissioner Major General Nkhensani Mokwevo said the purpose of the operation is to show that women continue to take a leading role in protecting their communities.
