BOPHELONG – The body of a 29-year-old man was found in a ditch in Bophelong on Thursday morning.
According to reports, a resident of Extension 8 woke up in the early morning hours to dump trash only to discover a lifeless body in the trench.
The family of the deceased, Mpho Lephuthi, was later notified of the gruesome discovery.
Speaking to Ster, Tlhoriso Lephuthi, uncle to the deceased, said his family went to the scene to find a shocking revelation.
“The last time I saw him was on Monday. We arrived at the scene to find his lifeless body in a ditch. When we enquired with his friends, they claimed they last saw him on the eve of the discovery,” he said.
“All we know is that he went to see his girlfriend before he was found deceased,” he added.
As the family battles to come to terms with Mpho’s passing, his uncle said they are left with many unanswered questions.
“His face looked mauled, with some of his flesh missing. You could only see bits and pieces of his face. We remain distraught following this incident,” he said.
Police and forensic team attended the scene.
Ster inquired with the police for an official comment on the case, however, at the time of going to print, the police spokesperson had not yet responded.
This is a developing story.
