VEREENIGING. – All roads will lead to the Dick Fourie Stadium in Three Rivers for the much-anticipated JJ Sporting FC Academies Champ of Champs.
This development tournament starts today (December 5) with the following age categories: U9 and U11. On Friday, it will be the U13 and U15. The U17 and U19 will take place on Saturday at the same venue. There will be football galore the whole weekend with local and outside development clubs competing in the championship.
This Top 8 tournament will be played in the point system and divided into two groups, four per group. The tournament is organised by the Sporting Football Club based in Three Rivers. The club campaigns in the Gauteng Development League Stream B. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Tyrone Koller, who is the main organizer of this tournament, said they are ready for tomorrow.
He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that they are expecting an exciting tournament with some big names that have already confirmed their participation. “We start the tournament today with the U9 and U11 and tomorrow we will be back here again. It is going to be a long weekend of football and we invite parents and the community of Vereeniging especially Three Rivers to come and support this initiative. We want to make this tournament a big success,” said Koller.
