DE DEUR. – The police in De Deur together with various stakeholders intensified efforts to combat the scourge of Gender-Based Violence (GBV). This was done through a door to door awareness campaign on December 10.
Police spokesperson Constable Mampho Mahlomola says the success of the campaign is due to a collaboration between police, Siyabangena Patrollers, GBV Brigades, the Youth Crime Prevention Desk, and the Community Police Forum.

“The campaign sought to highlight that, although the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is drawing to a close, the South African Police Service and its stakeholders remain resolute in their commitment to eradicating GBV.
“Community members were engaged directly and educated about the devastating impact of GBV, which was likened to a destructive disease threatening the wellbeing of society.”
Police emphasized that through adherence to the law and cooperation with law enforcement agencies, communities can work together to create a GBV-free environment.

“We urge residents not to remain silent about incidents of GBV. Reporting such cases is a crucial step toward ensuring justice and safety for victims. Community members can report GBV at their nearest police station or contact the SAPS Crime Stop hotline at 08600 10111.”
The SAPS thanked all stakeholders and community members who participated in the initiative, reinforcing the collective commitment to combat GBV.
