Police Spokesperson Constable Mampho Mahlomola states that when police arrived at the scene, they were met with the lifeless body of an African male who was stripped naked with multiple injuries.

DE DEUR – The police in de Deur have launched a murder case docket following the gruesome discovery of a man’s body floating in a dam near Mountain City squatter camp. The discovery was made on 7 January by a passerby who immediately alerted the police.

Police Spokesperson Constable Mampho Mahlomola states that when police arrived at the scene, they were met with the lifeless body of an African male who was stripped naked with multiple injuries.

De Deur SAPS Station Commander Lieutenant Colonel Anver Hammond has since condemned the incident, citing that inhumane incidents like this would not be tolerated.
“As the SAPS, we do not condone such behavior.”

Police urge members of the community with information pertaining to the incident to come forward and assist in bringing the perpetrators to book.

“We appeal to anyone with information to contact the police on 08600 10111 or use the MySAPS app, available on any smartphone. All information will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.”
