Vaal cinematographer produces Chicken Licken’s ‘wrap meal’ ad

Vaal Cinematographer wraps' Chicken Licken Wrap Meal advert.

VANDERBIJLPARK – He is known for creating exceptionally dope videos for the Mokete Wa Chicken Festival.

Now he has climbed the ladder to creating a series of Chicken Licken Adverts playing on TV and all social media pages of the chicken business.

Having worked with big companies and let his work speak volumes, cinematographer Tshegofatso Mahlong was approached to direct and shoot the newly introduced menu – the Wrap Meal advertisement.

Speaking to Ster, Mahlong Mahlong explained his connection to the advertisement.

“My involvement with Chicken Licken came through the Agency I once worked with, Joe Public United. I started working with Joe Public when I was called to shoot an ad for Louries Awards, which was also in partnership with the Biggest Social Media company, META.”

Mahlong said the agency approached him due to his shooting style.

“I have attended meetings for approximately four weeks where we discussed the planning of the shoot from location, wardrobe, actors as well as the production itself,” he said.

“I was told that Chicken Licken was about to introduce Wrap Meal to their menu and I had to direct three adverts where we had to shoot a bad rapper intentionally to convince people that there may be bad raps out there, however, Chicken Licken has great wraps,” he added.

According to Mahlong, the production took two days.

Sharing his reaction to securing the big gig, Mahlong said it was a learning curve.

“I was happy for the call-out to shoot for the biggest food company like Chicken Licken. I am forever grateful and I hope for another call-out. This is big,” he said.

Not forgetting his mother, Mahlong took an opportunity to share his gratitude.

“I would also love to thank my only parent, Dorcas Mahlong for always supporting me and always reminding me that God will always be there for me,” he concluded.
