Metsimaholo Mayoral Committee meets to drive municipal progress

As the year starts, Metsimaholo MAYCO meet to plan toward promoting service delivery.

SASOLBURG – The First Mayoral Committee Meeting of 2025, chaired by the executive mayor of Metsimaholo
Local Municipality, Jack Malindi, marked a significant step toward enhancing governance and municipal service
delivery.

Held on January 28 at the Solomon Mahlangu Boardroom in the Civic Centre, Sasolburg, this pivotal
gathering brought together the mayoral committee members, the municipal manager, Basi Motloung, and senior
municipal managers.

With a focused agenda addressing key developmental issues, the meeting exemplified the critical collaboration between municipal leadership and management in fostering community-centric progress.

Discussions included an extensive progress report on business licensing and the ongoing registration process
for informal and street trading permits, reflecting the municipality’s commitment to economic development and formalising local enterprises.

Another highlight was the Boiketlong Occupancy Audit, a crucial initiative to address housing and land-use challenges.

Additionally, the meeting tackled the disposal and transfer of municipal assets designated for government land use, ensuring efficient resource allocation to meet public needs.

The agenda further encompassed Operation Patala, an initiative targeting financial sustainability through improved revenue collection, as well as the Midyear Budget and Performance Assessment, which reviewed
the municipality’s fiscal health and operational milestones.

Members also deliberated on the Draft Audited 2023/24 Annual Report, which underscores transparency and accountability in governance.

The engagement between the mayoral committee and senior managers underscores the importance of aligning strategic planning with operational execution.

This collaboration ensures that policies and decisions are effectively translated into tangible outcomes, ultimately benefiting the Metsimaholo community.

By fostering a unified approach, such meetings strengthen accountability, promote efficient service delivery, and reinforce the municipality’s commitment to sustainable development.
