BOPHELONG – A group of local business people known as Hae Tuke Kasi Economy from Bophelong has donated 30 pair of shoes to less fortunate pupils in different schools.
The drive was commended by the saddening state of some pupils who go to school with torn school shoes.
Selecting dozens of children to give back to, the business community contributed from their tuckshop profits staggery amounts to make this dream come through.
On Tuesday, February 04, the businessmen toured around to different schools including Seeiso Primary School, Community Primary, Ekokobetseng Primary School among many others, to deliver the new shoes.
Speaking to Ster, Blessing Motaung, Treasurer of Hae Tuke explained their mission.
“About 168 businessmen and women in our NPC made a clarion call to give back to the community. We donated money so we could buy shoes and donate to those in need. We selected a number of local primary schools to give back as a way of changing our community,” he said.
Motaung said the drive is a first for many more donations to happen in their tight-knit community.
“We could have chosen other projects to start with, however, we started with the shoes drive because we feel it is important to give children dignity so they can learn without having issues to distract them.”
“We have set ourselves a target for all the donations we wish to deliver in our community. We also have other projects like donating dignitary packs for those who need them and changing lives of Bophelong children, one at a time,” he added.
Motaung thanked several businesses who contributed and made the dream possible such as Thami Manzi, Doctor Nkabinde, Seunkie Lehoko, and associations such as VAT among many others.
