Local author changes manhood perspective through a book
“It challenges readers to confront their past, redefine their present, and take ownership of their future. Ultimately, the book serves as both a guide and an inspiration for anyone striving to live with purpose, authenticity, and integrity,” said the author.

VANDERBIJLPARK – A local author is bringing about change with a powerful book that challenges how men view life and aims to inspire them to redefine their purpose.
Through his brainchild, The Man I Wanna Be, Bongani Miya embarked on a journey of self-discovery and was determined to share life-changing lessons with locals and the world.
According to Miya, his book was inspired by personal experiences, struggles, and triumphs throughout his childhood and life in general.
Speaking to Ster, Miya said he wanted to explore the complexities of manhood, identity, and purpose in a way that clicks with his targeted audience from all walks of life.
“This is not just a book, it’s a mirror and a map reflecting the struggles and triumphs many of us face while also guiding readers toward becoming the best versions of themselves,” he said.
Miya said the book digs into thought-provoking themes such as God’s Original Blueprint for Men, The Man I Never Met, Beyond The Corner Office, and The Power of Decision.
“It challenges readers to confront their past, redefine their present, and take ownership of their future. Ultimately, the book serves as both a guide and an inspiration for anyone striving to live with purpose, authenticity, and integrity,” he added.
Miya further urged men to confront their past, redefine their present, and take charge of their future with courage and intention.
Touching on challenges behind the pages, Miya said writing a book is no easy feat, and his journey came with its fair share of hurdles.
“One of the biggest hurdles was finding the right balance between sharing my journey and making the book relatable to a wide audience. I wanted the message to be impactful, but also authentic to my experiences. I didn’t know how far I should go in sharing my personal stories,” he said.
At a time when men grapple with evolving expectations of masculinity, Miya said his book offers a fresh perspective.
Since the release of his book, Miya said he has been met with overwhelming positivity.
