Popular comedian brings outdoor comedy experience

Comedian, Skholo Mayisa plans to take his comedy festival to a great new height.

VANDERBIJLPARK – For eleven years now, Skholo Mayisa has delivered top-tier comedy shows at the Vereeniging Civic Theatre.

This year, the king of comedy is amping up his game with a never-before-seen open-air experience: the Vaal Comedy Night at 136 River Road, Mantevrede in Vanderbijlpark.

The comedian, MC, and voice-over artist is roping in international bigwigs to ensure the show is a comedy riot.

Taking place on March 29, right in the heart of Human Rights Month, Mayisa said he’s pulling out all stops to bring a premier show.

Speaking to Ster, the popular man in the comedy scenes, explained his idea and how he plans to bring it to life.

“We’ve been doing this show indoors for a decade now, and I believe it’s time to move. Vaal Comedy Night was an idea born to accommodate Vaal comedy lovers.”

“It’s high time we take the show to other places with a bang. This year we are bringing both national and international acts. The concept of incorporating premium comedians was born as we traveled to different places. We meet a lot of Vaalians at these shows, hence we decided to bring their favourite acts this time around,” he said.

The Comedy Night is bringing big names such as Lilaphalapha from Lesotho, Tieho Khakhauu from Wellkom, Jay Boogie, Ziko Sithole, Chris Mapane, and Ntosh Madlingozi.

“These are creatives whose work speaks volumes. Many have big shows and some feature in popular events in the country. We are bringing award winners, legends, and big names in the industry who have graced international stages.”

Mayisa said they want people to stop driving far for comedy. “We have the facilities, we have the talent, so why not bring the show to the people and allow followers to enjoy it in their backyard.”

To add a twist to the show, Mayisa said different disk jockeys will descend the stage and keep the crowd showered with cool deep house music, with popular DJs such as Charmaine Za, Zulu Tariana, Goddard, and Graphix.
