VANDERBIJLPARK – A female pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle while trying to cross Barrage Road in Vanderbijlpark this morning.

The SAPS, ER24, and Emfuleni Traffic officials responded to the scene.

An eyewitness said the woman appeared to be walking from the direction of Vaal University towards the Isak Steyl Stadium when a Renault Sandero struck her.

“She flew from one side of the traffic light to the other,” the witness recalled. “It was the first time I saw someone fly that high. Her safety boots were left behind, and her body landed on the opposite side.”

The incident caused significant traffic congestion as law enforcement investigated the scene.

At the time of going to print, police had not commented on the matter.
