SASOLBURG – Four people tragically lost their lives on Monday, October 20, on the R59.

According to Sipho Towa from the EMS control centre, “the incident happened at about 16:23 on the R59. The accident involved two trucks and a light motor vehicle.”

“Unfortunately, four passengers from the light motor vehicle were declared dead on the scene,” he said.

Eyewitnesses says the light motor vehicle got trapped between the two trucks, resulting in a severe impact that claimed four lives instantly.

The victims, all from the smaller car, were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The sole survivor, a passenger in critical condition, was stabilised on site before being prepared for an airlift to a nearby hospital. EMS teams worked swiftly amid the wreckage, which scattered debris across the road and halted traffic.

Just two day prior to this incident, another accident on the R59 also claimed the lives of four people who were on their way to a funeral
