Man (34) arrested for murder after stabbing friend to death

Zamdela police are investigating a case of murder, after a 34-year-old stabbed his friend in cold blood over a dice game.

ZAMDELA – What started as a friendly dice game at a local tavern ended in bloodshed when a 34-year-old man allegedly stabbed his friend to death after a heated argument over money.

The fatal incident took place in the early hours of Sunday, November 9, in the Walter Sisulu section.

According to police, their members received a call around 06:20 reporting the incident and rushed to the scene.

On arrival, they found the lifeless body of a 31-year-old man lying on the ground, covered in blood.

Speaking to Ster, Fezile Dabi police spokesperson Sergeant Josephine Rani confirmed the gruesome discovery.

“It is alleged that the suspect and the deceased were playing a dice game at a shebeen when a fight broke out. The suspect then stabbed the deceased and ran away. Our trace team followed up, and the suspect was arrested at around 07:00,” she said.

Rani said the suspect is expected to appear in the Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court facing a murder charge.
