VANDERBIJLPARK.- NWU Vaal will compete against the bigger boys in the Gauteng Development League (GDL) Stream A next season.
This means that local soccer fans will be able to enjoy the local derby between NWU Vaal FC and Remember Elite Sport Academy (RESA).
Furthermore, NWU Vaal FC will compete against teams like Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, and SuperSport United, to name but a few.
This stream is regarded as the most competitive, and the return of NWU Vaal follows the appointment of new management, including the technical staff.
Some of the notable faces in the NWU Vaal FC team include former SAFA Sedibeng Technical Officer Thulani ‘Japan’ Mthikulu and former Orlando Pirates defender/midfielder Sailor Tshabalala.

These two need no introduction to football development in Sedibeng, as they have been involved in grassroots football. Mthikulu is one of the highly qualified coaches not only in Sedibeng but in Gauteng, as he was previously part of Mamelodi Sundowns development, School of Excellence.
