Local radio presenter nominated for national award

A presenter from Midvaal Community Radio has earned national recognition after being nominated for the Best Radio Presenter category at the 7th annual Mzansi Arts & Media Awards.

MIDVAAL – A presenter from Midvaal Community Radio has been nominated for the 7th annual Mzansi Arts & Media Awards.

Edwin Alfred Mofokeng, known by his presenter name, MLK, has been nominated in the category for Best Radio Presenter, placing the local broadcaster on a national platform.

MLK said he first learned about (The Marketing Zoo – Vicki Rothman van der Merwe) the nomination after receiving an email from the Mzansi Arts & Media Awards team, following a WhatsApp request for previews of his work.

Describing the moment, he said he was overwhelmed with excitement.

“I was completely over the moon. I was so excited that I even hopped into a cab just to go share the remarkable news with my lady,” he said.

MLK said the nomination represents both personal and professional recognition.

“Personally, it’s a testament to my hard work and dedication to my craft. Professionally, it validates the impact I’m making in the community.”

The presenter has been with Midvaal Community Radio for three years and currently hosts The Weekend Brunch Classics Show, a programme that features timeless music and inspirational stories aimed at listeners across the Vaal region and surrounding communities.

He said representing Midvaal on a national stage is a privilege.

“It’s an honour to showcase the talent and spirit of Midvaal.”
