Operation Shanela 2 marks significant results in Meyerton
Over 40 people were arrested in Meyerton during Operation shanela 2.
Over 150 law enforcement officers flooded the Meyerton policing precinct for a massive Operation Shanela 2, clamping down on lawlessness and crime.
The operation was led by the Sedibeng District Commissioner, Major General Nkhensani Mukwevho. It included the execution of various operational activities, including searching and testing vehicles, stop and search operations, setting up roadblocks, checking compliance at spaza shops and liquor outlets, visiting filling stations, shopping malls, conducting taxi rank inspection, monitoring ATMs, patrolling crime hotspots, and patrolling farms.
Speaking to Ster North, Sergeant Tintswalo Ndhambi said community engagement initiatives were also conducted, reaching over 50 community members, while a school search operation reached 400 learners.
“Traffic enforcement resulted in 43 fines issued, to the value of R19100, including one J534 notice issued for non-compliance with the Stock Theft Act.”

Speaking about arrests and seizures, Ndhambi reports that the operation resulted in a total of 56 arrests.
Arrests include 42 undocumented persons, four drug possession charges, one possession of ammunition, and one common assault.
Ndhambi states that undocumented individuals included nationals from Mozambique, Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Lesotho.
Exhibits seized during the operation include 65 rounds of live ammunition, a rifle and 9mm magazines
and crystal meth and mandrax tablets
Furthermore, additional arrests of seven suspects were recorded by detective units in Meyerton, and the offences include common assault, fencing act, assault GBH, malicious damage to property and trespassing.
