TUMAHOLE – A 39-year-old man is in custody following a successful police raid during the early hours of yesterday. Members of the Sasolburg Public Order Policing Unit carried out the operation after receiving information about a house in the Winnie Section that was reportedly used to sell and distribute drugs.
According to Fezile Dabi District Police spokesperson Sergeant Josephine Rani, the specialist team acted quickly on the tip-off. When officers arrived at the property at approximately 01:30, they conducted a thorough search, which resulted in the discovery of various illegal items and the immediate arrest of the suspect.
During the search, police seized 21 Mandrax tablets, which are commonly referred to as “5-star” on the street. Officers also recovered eight small and two medium ziplock bags containing crystal methamphetamine, along with two live rounds of ammunition.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Parys Magistrate’s Court on formal charges for the possession of drugs and the unlawful possession of ammunition.
