SANDF and SAPS sweep Orange Farm streets

Police and soldiers have joined forces in Orange Farm for Operation Karabo, a high-visibility crackdown aimed at cutting crime and restoring safety to the Sedibeng District.

ORANGE FARM – The streets of Orange Farm saw a massive show of force today as Sedibeng District Police teamed up with the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) for Operation Karabo. This joint initiative was launched to tackle the high crime rates currently affecting the area.

The day began with a formal parade at Boxer Supermarket in Ext 3, where law enforcers gathered before splitting into three separate groups. These teams moved through various sectors to carry out intensive stop-and-search operations across both the Orange Farm and Poortjie precincts.

Orange Farm Police spokesperson Sergeant Shaan Motsapi confirmed the operation was designed to strengthen crime prevention.

“The parade was addressed by the District VISPOL Commander, Colonel Bongani Dube. Dube emphasised the importance of professional conduct and discipline when members execute their duties and responsibilities,” he said.

Dube noted that Orange Farm contributes significantly to the high crime levels recorded within the Sedibeng District.

He stressed that it is vital to enforce the law strictly and use the extra support from the military to properly secure the local community and deal with problematic areas.
