SASOLBURG – It was a tough showdown at Sasolburg High School (SHS) during a rugby game between Hoërskool Overvaal and SHS’ first team recently.
This comes after SHS came out swinging and defeated Overvaal 26-24.
SHS edged out Overvaal in a fiery encounter that had fans on the edge of their seats.
From as early as the first whistle, both clubs showed the intention to win as they poured their hearts out during the match.
Despite attempts by both sides, SHS drew first blood with a well-worked try that sent the home crowd into a rage.
But Overvaal were not there to make up the numbers; they fired back with relentless physicality, matching SHS blow for blow.
As fans clung to the edge of their seats, packing the school A field, the clash quickly escalated into a bruising arm wrestle.
Fast-paced runs, crunching tackles, and constant tries were the order of the day as both sides battled for dominance.
At some point, Overvaal managed to get ahead, threatening to silence the home supporters, but the determined SHS didn’t back down.
SHS’s defence held firm under immense pressure, earning them hard-fought bragging rights.
