SASOLBURG – Let there be light! This is what residents of Eric Louw Road and DF Malan Road are witnessing after streetlights have been repaired.
The DA in Metsimaholo has since noted and welcomed the municipality’s recent initiative to restore street lights.
Councillor Teboho Thulo said after petitions driven by the DA, seeing these major routes illuminated again brings a much-needed sense of safety and hope to Sasolburg residents.
“However, while this progress is appreciated, it is important to acknowledge that many other parts of Sasolburg remain in darkness. Numerous neighbourhoods continue to struggle with non-functional street lights, creating safety risks for pedestrians, motorists, and households,” he said.
Thulo said the DA Metsimaholo, therefore, encourages the municipality to extend this initiative beyond the main roads and ensure that all communities across Metsimaholo benefit equally from reliable public lighting.
“Street lights are not a luxury; they are essential for safety, crime prevention, and the restoration of confidence in service delivery.”
“We remain committed to monitoring this issue and advocating for consistent, township-wide lighting repairs so that every resident, regardless of where they live, can feel safe and supported,” he said.
