Wanted! Police hunt murder and hijacking suspect after court no-show

Heidelberg detectives are on the hunt for a suspect linked to robbery, kidnapping, hijacking, and murder after he disappeared before his trial.

HEIDELBERG – Heidelberg Police are appealing to the public for help in tracking down a 40-year-old man who went on the run just as his trial was due to begin.

Bonginkosi Kennedy Mndau failed to appear before the Benoni High Court on June 8, prompting a judge to issue a warrant for his arrest.

Heidelberg police spokesperson Constable Doris Nkosi confirmed that detectives have launched a major search operation for the fugitive.

Mndau is linked to three separate ongoing investigations involving a string of serious offenses. These include house robbery, house robbery with aggravating circumstances involving a firearm, kidnapping, vehicle hijacking, and a murder committed along the R103 route.

Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information regarding Mndau’s whereabouts to come forward immediately.

Members of the public can contact the Heidelberg SAPS on 082 319 9378 or via the alternative lines on 010 499 4506, 010 499 4507, or 010 499 4508.

Police have strongly advised community members not to approach the suspect under any circumstances, as he is considered dangerous, but to report any sightings to law enforcement.
