This Mandela Day, Wide Horizon Hospice invites members of the community to join in making a difference by performing acts of kindness that support its mission of compassionate care.

As palliative care continues to grow, the facility is calling on the Vaal community to lend its support in bringing comfort, dignity, and hope to patients and their families as they face some of life’s most difficult moments.

“Mandela Day reminds us that even the smallest act of kindness can make a lasting difference. Our team cares for those facing life-limiting illnesses, walking beside them so they never face this journey alone. We can only continue this work because of the generosity of people like you. Whether you choose to donate, give your 67 minutes, sponsor a meal or a bed, contribute essential items, or support our services in another way, your gift will have a meaningful impact,” says CEO Tersia Burger.

Community members keen on making a difference can donate R670 for 67 Minutes, a gesture that represents a meaningful contribution to sustaining 67 minutes of care, medical needs, patient comfort, or specialised services.

Donations, including basic care packs (soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, sanitary towels, and lotion), heaters for the unit area, recliners, basins, thermos flasks, groceries, and cleaning materials, are more than welcome.

For daily operations, the hospice needs a telephone extension for the nurses’ station, a bell system, computers with printers, tablets, a cellphone, business cards, flyers, information materials, electricity tokens, and garden tools.
