DE DEUR – Gauteng police have nabbed a 22-year-old suspect in Hartzenbergfontein after discovering a hydroponic dagga laboratory estimated to have a street value of R1.5m. The incident happened on September 8.

The discovery follows a multi-disciplinary, intelligence-driven operation by members of Gauteng Counter-Intelligence Narcotics, Gauteng Organised Crime, West Rand K9, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), and private security companies.

Police spokesperson Constable Mampho Mahlomola says the man from Malawi is facing charges relating to the contraventions of the Drug Trafficking Act and Immigration Act.

“The suspect is expected to appear before the Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court soon. Police investigations are ongoing,” Mahlomola concludes.
