The Sebokeng police are warning members of the community against spreading false information following viral social media posts regarding alleged kidnappings that purportedly occurred on September 21 in Zone 14.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane says no such kidnapping incident has been reported or registered at Sebokeng SAPS.

“We urge members of the public to refrain from spreading unverified information, as such reports may cause unnecessary fear and panic within the community. The public is encouraged to verify information with the police before sharing or forwarding messages on social media platforms.”

Station Commander Brigadier Thembekile Kubone appealed to community members to remain vigilant and safety-conscious at all times.

“Members of the public must report any suspicious activity or criminal incident to the police immediately. Working together with the community and sharing accurate information will assist us in keeping Sebokeng safe.”

Furthermore, authorities encourage parents and guardians to remain alert, know the whereabouts of their children, and ensure their safety at all times.

Community members are encouraged to avoid walking alone in isolated areas and immediately report suspicious persons, vehicles or activities to the police.
