For a dedicated police officer in the Sedibeng region, law enforcement is much more than just a job. Constable Kamohelo Mustafa Tsotetsi, a 35-year-old Tactical Response Team operator, has spent the past 10 years protecting communities in De Deur and across the wider Sedibeng area through hard work, continuous learning, and frontline policing.

Tsotetsi has recently been nominated for a National Excellence Award recognition, highlighting his contribution to intelligence-driven crime prevention and stabilisation operations.

Throughout his career, he has worked in specialised units focusing on narcotics, anti-hijacking, and infrastructure protection, while actively targeting illegal firearms, drug distribution networks, and wanted suspects.

Reflecting on his career highlights, Tsotetsi points to operations that successfully recovered 30 unlicensed firearms and hundreds of rounds of live ammunition, alongside helping to secure arrests for serious crimes such as murder, hijacking, and armed robbery.

“My operational contribution has extended to the recovery of stolen vehicles and efforts to disrupt organised criminal networks. I have also contributed to multidisciplinary operations that resulted in the seizure of drugs valued at approximately R500 000, including operations involving hydroponic cultivation sites.”

Furthermore, his nomination recognised his vital contribution to an operation that rescued 79 human trafficking victims.

Alongside his demanding operational duties, Tsotetsi places a strong emphasis on academic growth.
He already holds a diploma, a bachelor’s degree, and an honours degree in policing, and he is currently studying towards his master’s degree.

Adding to his personal achievements, his unit, the Sedibeng Tactical Response Team, was recently named Operational Team of the Year for the2025/2026 period, an accolade he describes as a true career highlight.
