Two illegal immigrants arrested for dagga trafficking worth R800 000

VILJOENSDRIFT .- Two illegal immigrants were arrested for dagga trafficking valued at about R800 000 in Viljoensdrift.

The dagga discovered is valued at about R800 000, and weighs 300 kilograms.

Police spokesperson Josephine Rani said: “On Wednesday, 30 August 2023 at about 23:35, members were patrolling the R82, when they noticed a suspicious vehicle with a Lesotho registration.”

They pulled over the vehicle and in the vehicle were two male occupants. They proceeded to search the vehicle and 11 bags containing dagga were discovered. It is further alleged that suspects tried to bribe members to evade arrest.”

The suspects will appear before the Sasolburg Magistrate Court on Friday, September 1, on charges of dagga trafficking, bribery and for being illegal immigrants.
