Alcohol blamed for Vaal River accident

Two people were injured in the accident.

Vaal River Rats South Africa has confirmed that a drunk boat driver was the cause of the boating accident and not the jetski as per reports widely shared on social media.

In the incident that occurred on Sunday, December 19, two people were injured.

In a statement Vaal River Rats South Africa said the Jetski was lining up to be taken out the water via trailer and a boater ended up being far too close to the bank, the skipper was allegedly drunk.

“The boat hit the jetski and unfortunately people ended up getting hurt.”

“If you are on the vaal river/dam from today, we urge you to follow with a citizen’s arrest, should you see someone underage or unruly do your best to stop them. Take photos and also get registration numbers that are easily identifiable.”

These details can then be reported to us which in turn we will hand over to Waterwing to get direct contact with the owners.”
