Baby born at fire station
"The patient was on her way to the hospital, but felt that the birth of the baby was taking place."
MEYERTON. –The emergency response team CERT-SA was called on Sunday afternoon when a woman called at the Midvaal Local Municipality’s fire station for help when she was giving birth.
“The patient was on her way to the hospital, but felt that the birth of the baby was taking place. She therefore went to the local fire station for assistance.”
“Our emergency service officers, in collaboration with the fire brigade, saw to it that the baby was born safely. The mother and her child were stabilized and later taken by Gauteng Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital,” says CERT-SA in a statement.
CERT-SA thanked officers of the fire brigade, who, above and beyond their everyday duties, helped to give birth to the child.
